A Box-Counting Method with Adaptable Box Height for Measuring the Fractal Feature of Images

Most of the existing box-counting methods for measuring fractal features are only applicable to square images or images with each dimension equal to the power of 2 and require that the box at the top of the box stack of each image block is of the same height as that of other boxes in the same stack, which gives rise to inaccurate estimation of fractal dimension. In this paper, we propose a more accurate box-counting method for images of arbitrary size, which allows the height of the box at the top of each grid block to be adaptable to the maximum and minimum gray-scales of that block so as to circumvent the common limitations of existing box-counting methods

On the Theme of Immortality Through Literature in Shakespeare’s Sonnets

William Shakespeare’s 154 Sonnets contribute a great deal to art and literature. As a world-class master, he lives in the English Renaissance period, which is marked by a cultural flowering. Humanism is the essence of the Renaissance. It dramatically affects Shakespeare’s works. In the sonnets, he reinforces his affirmation of human wisdom and knowledge of creating magnificent literature, thus bringing about the immortality of youth and beauty, which is an acute reflection of his humanistic thought of the Renaissance. This paper takes the humanism of the Renaissance as its concept. Then, this paper concentrates on investigating the theme of immortality through literature in these sonnets, including Sonnet 15, 17, 18, 19, 55, 60, and 81. After interpreting the themes with concrete examples, this paper summarizes that Shakespeare’s yearning for immortality through literature derives from his humanistic spirit. Additionally, this paper is of higher significance for valuing the principle of putting people first at the core, while pursuing a comprehensive, balanced, and sustainable development in modern society

Comparison between Chinese and English Headlines and the Translation from English Headlines to Chinese Headlines

By consulting different books and journals, this paper analyses the differences between Chinese and English headlines through the aspects of words, grammar, rhetoric and structure, then concludes methods to translate the English headlines to Chinese headlines. The Operation of the Trade Agreements Program in Overcoming Barriers to Hemisphere Trade

With new technologies, temperature has become a major issue to be considered at system level design. Without taking temperature aspects into consideration, no approach to energy or/and performance optimization will be sufficiently accurate and efficient. In this paper we propose an on-line temperature aware dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technique which is able to exploit both static and dynamic slack. The approach implies an offline temperature aware optimization step and on-line voltage/frequency settings based on temperature sensor readings. Most importantly, the presented approach is aware of the frequency/temperature dependency, by which important additional energy savings are obtained
